Sheila Kearney Sullivan

Sheila E. (Kearney) Sullivan – 57 – of South Yarmouth, MA formerly of Norfolk, MA passed away on September 29, 2008.  Raised in Needham, Sheila received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Salve Regina College.  She worked for Newton-Wellesley Hospital for 27 years, first as an RN and later as a case manager.  She worked tirelessly for her patients and developed many treasured friendships with coworkers. 

 

Sheila leaves her husband of 36 years, Lawrence, two daughters, Rebecca Delaney, of Charlestown, MA and Laura Sullivan of Somerville, MA, her mother Carolyn Kearney of West Roxbury, MA and a granddaughter, Nora Delaney of Charlestown, MA.    She also leaves her sister Ellen Romay of Sonoma, CA and brother Daniel Kearney of Chatham, MA

Sheila E. Sullivan


SOUTH YARMOUTH — Sheila E. (Kearney) Sullivan, 57, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Norfolk, passed away on Sept. 29, 2008.

Born in Boston and raised in Needham, Sheila received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Salve Regina College in Newport, R.I. She worked for Newton-Wellesley Hospital for 27 years, first as an RN and later as a case manager. She worked tirelessly for her patients and developed many treasured friendships with co-workers.

Sheila loved spending time with friends and family. One of Sheila's favorite ways to spend an evening was sitting on the deck at the Cape talking with family. She also enjoyed playing golf, going out to eat, watching the Red Sox, and walking her dog Sandy. She also was a runner, and completed the Cape Cod Marathon and several road races.

She leaves her husband of 36 years, Lawrence; two daughters, Rebecca Delaney and her husband, Timothy, of Charlestown, and Laura Sullivan of Somerville; her mother, Carolyn Kearney of West Roxbury; and a granddaughter, Nora Delaney of Charlestown. She also leaves her sister, Ellen Romay of Sonoma, Calif.; and brother, Daniel Kearney of Chatham.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at noon, in St. Pius X Church, Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila's memory may be made to the Mass. General Melanoma Research Fund, c/o Mass. General Hospital, Attn: Development, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Make checks payable to Mass. General Hospital.

The family would like to thank the staff from the Hospice of Cape Cod for their compassionate care.
