Ken Wellington

January 19, 1951  -  March 17, 2017.    Ken passed away peacefully on March 17, 2017 after a brief illness.  Beloved husband of Jean (Heemskerk) Wellington, and loving father of Erica J. Wellington and her husband Dr. David Atherton of Bozeman, MT and Christopher C. Wellington of N. Oxford.  Also survived by his sister, Ann Wellington-Lonergan and her husband Robert of Biddeford, ME and a brother, Alan M. Wellington and his wife Susan of Needham.  Predeceased by his parents, Elliot L and Margaret M. Wellington.   A lifelong resident of Needham, Ken graduated from Needham High School in 1969 and went on to earn a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from Syracuse University.  He enjoyed a 40-year career with GTE and General Dynamics before retiring in 2015.  Always "young-at-heart," Ken pursued many hobbies with enthusiasm, and he cherished vacations on Cape Cod and in Maine with his family.  Friends and family are invited to a gathering celebrating Ken's life on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Union Church in Waban, 14 Collins Road, Waban, MA 02468.  Burial will be private.  Donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Nauset Light Preservation Society, P. O. Box 941, Eastham, MA  02642

Ken was a great friend and commrade.  I think i last saw him at the 20th Reunion...but can assure you he will be missed.  Prayers go to all of his family.

Ken was really a good guy.  He and Alan were good friends.  As Hope said, hard to think of losing someone after what I'm sure was a well-lived life, knowing him.  R.I.P.
